NSLC Explains Hiring Process

first_imgThe Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) has hired two newexecutives. Ken Barbet, the corporation’s acting president, says the newdirectors of distribution and of corporate communications wererecruited after a thorough application process. “Our process for hiring is well defined and is designed to selectthe best candidate based on merit,” said Mr. Barbet. “Thesesituations are no different.” In both cases, the positions were advertised publicly andapplications were received. Twenty-one applications were receivedfor the director of distribution position, and 68 for thedirector of corporate communications position. “All applications were screened by our human resources division,and a list of interviewees prepared based on skills and abilitiesrequired for each of the positions,” said Mr. Barbet. In each case, six applicants were interviewed by a panel thatincluded NSLC executives and an outside expert in each of therespective fields. “We feel confident that in both instances we’ve selectedexcellent candidates who were the most qualified individualsamong those who applied. I’m looking forward to having them joinour executive team.” Craig Sutherland has been appointed director of distribution andRick Perkins has been appointed director of corporatecommunications. Both will start their NSLC careers this month.last_img
